Developmental Potential

12 March 2010

This is what we are talking about when we refer to 'reaching one's potential'.

Developmental potential refers to the level of skill that a person is potentially capable of achieiving. In the definitions used here it refers to the combination of core functionality and intellectual development. It refers to the potential that a person is capable of achieving as a result of both their education and the environment of their upbringing and how they responded to it in the development of core functionality (natural talent).

Developmental potential can be changed either by improving education or improving development of core functionalities. At this stage we are more familiar with how to improve education/intellectual development than we are with improving core functionality. One of the purposes of this document and the EmotFit programme is to help to change that and enable people to improve their core functionality after they have reached adulthood.
